The Astana Economic Forum will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan in June next year, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso is invited to participate. This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic following a meeting between Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi and the head of the financial institution.
"The parties discussed the current state and prospects for expanding cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EBRD, noting the strategic importance of long-term partnership. Tleuberdi highly appreciated the EBRD's contribution to the development of Kazakhstan for more than 30 years of mutual relations, and also paid attention to the current and prospective projects with the participation of the bank, in particular the construction of the Almaty Ring Road and the supply of gas for CHP-2 of Almaty," the message says.
According to the minister, the Kazakh side is interested in further expanding cooperation with the EBRD in the development of transit and transport potential, logistics routes, alternative energy and urban infrastructure. "At the end of the meeting the EBRD head was officially invited by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Astana International Forum, which will be held in June 2023," the press service reported.
The last time the Astana Economic Forum was held in May 2019, it was later postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
