Participants in the Security Council meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin said it was important to prevent the situation in Kyrgyzstan from slipping into chaos, Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told on Friday.
"It was noted that it was important to stabilize the situation as soon as possible in order to prevent the situation from sliding into chaos," he said.
On the night of October 6, representatives of parties that didn't pass to the Kyrgyz parliament after elections the day before, arranged mass disorders in Bishkek, captured buildings of state bodies, released ex-president Almazbek Atambaev and a number of other politicians from the jail. Several structures established by the opposition have announced the transfer of power to them and the appointment of their heads of government and departments. The CEC declared the election results invalid.
Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov called on party leaders to put the political process back on track and signed decrees on the resignation of the government and the prime minister, as well as replaced the heads of several law enforcement agencies. By the decree of Jeenbekov, the state of emergency was introduced in Bishkek from 9 to 21 October.
