Azerbaijan has overtaken Russia in terms of gas supplies to Turkey

Azerbaijan overtook Russia in terms of gas supplies to Turkey in March this year, the report of EPDK Turkey's energy regulator says, RIA Novosti reports.


The document compares the volume of Turkish gas imports from various countries in March 2019 and this year.


In March last year, according to the document, Russia's share of gas exports to Turkey was 32.55% (1.398 billion cubic meters), but over the same period this year, the figure fell to 9.89% — 389.7 million cubic meters.


In March 2020, Azerbaijan with a share of 23.45%, Qatar (19.95%), Iran (14.15%) and Algeria (13.69%) took the leading positions in the export of blue fuel to the Republic.


Thus, in March of this year, Russia took fifth place among the largest exporters of gas to Turkey.


In the previous report of the regulator, Russia continued to take first place in the sale of blue fuel to Turkey. Thus, by the end of February 2020, the share of Russian gas was 21.14% (1.112 billion cubic meters), and Azerbaijan was in third place (16.34%), behind the United States (17.71%).
