17 March 2023

The Khanoba customs checkpoint on the border between Azerbaijan and Russia was launched on Friday, AZERTAC reports.

According to it, the opening ceremony of the customs post was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan Alexei Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev.

In April 2020, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev allocated $2.4 million for the construction of the Khanoba customs checkpoint on the border with Russia. In addition, more than $17.6 million was allocated for the reconstruction of the road between the checkpoints Khanoba and Samur.

According to the government of the republic, the launch of the customs post, with modern equipment, will speed up cargo traffic along the international North-South transport corridor, simplify border crossing procedures, expand the transit capacity of Azerbaijan, completely eliminate cases of congestion and queues of vehicles on the Azerbaijani-Russian border.
