Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov confirmed Baku's readiness to sign a peace treaty with Armenia in a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan on Tuesday with the participation of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. This was reported by the press service of the foreign ministry of Azerbaijan.

"Minister Jeyhun Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region and readiness to sign a peace treaty. The minister also noted that Baku will continue to work on the reintegration of the Armenian population living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period," the report said.

According to the foreign ministry, during the meeting, "Baku's expectations related to continuing negotiations on the text of the peace treaty, which reflects the principles proposed by the Azerbaijani side at the meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers in Geneva on October 2 were stressed." "The call to hold the next meeting of the bilateral commission on delimitation [of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border] in October in order to eliminate tensions on the non-delimited sections on the border and to handle these issues within the commission was positively met," the ministry added.

The report noted that Blinken, in turn, urged the sides "to refrain from armed clashes, stressed the importance of accelerating negotiations on a peace treaty on the basis of the proposed principles and to continue work within the commission on the delimitation of the border."

According to the MFA of Azerbaijan, the sides exchanged views on other aspects of the normalization process between Baku and Yerevan during the phone conversation and agreed to continue contacts in order to achieve progress on the discussed issues.
