Azerbaijani authorities established a fund to support families of those killed and wounded in the battles in Karabakh

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of a special fund to support families of those killed and wounded in the battles in Nagorno-Karabakh, the press service of the Azerbaijani leader said on Tuesday.

 

"The Fund is created as a transparent and accessible platform for additional support of measures taken for social protection of this category of citizens," the decree says.


The sources of funding for the Fund will be voluntary contributions from citizens and compatriots living abroad, as well as "any other sources not prohibited by law". The Fund will be managed by the State Agency for Service to Citizens and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan. General control over the organization will be exercised by the Board of Trustees.


Earlier, the authorities of the country announced official data about losses in the ranks of the Azerbaijani army during the escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, 2 783 servicemen died during the battles and more than 100 people are considered missing. Hospitals are treating 1,245 people.
