Bahrain's Ambassador to Russia, Ahmed Al-Saati, has praised the strong and exemplary relationship between Moscow and Manama, emphasizing their remarkable achievements in bilateral ties.
Speaking at a reception held at the embassy to mark Bahrain’s National Day and the 25th anniversary of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s ascension to the throne, Al-Saati highlighted the significance of the upcoming 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. He stated, “We would like to express our gratitude to the Russian leadership and people for their cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations. Thanks to these efforts, our ties have become a model of outstanding relations.”
“I wish great Russia and its friendly people continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin,” the ambassador concluded.
In late May, Bahrain’s king visited Moscow for talks with Putin, which lasted nearly two hours in various formats. The meeting resulted in the signing of seven agreements.
Bahrain declared its independence on August 14, 1971, after being part of the Federation of Arab Emirates of the Persian Gulf from 1968 to 1971. The Soviet Union recognized Bahrain's independence on August 26, 1971. However, diplomatic relations were only established nearly two decades later, on September 29, 1990, as part of the USSR’s efforts to improve ties with Israel and the Gulf states.
