Baku reported shelling of positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the border with Armenia

The defense ministry of Azerbaijan reported on Tuesday about intensive shelling of the positions of the armed forces of the republic on the border with Armenia.


"On the evening of October 3 and on the night of October 4, Armenian Armed Forces units from positions located in the direction of Subatan, Yukhary Shorja and Istisu settlements of the Basargechar district, Chinarly and Kolagir of the Tovuzgaly district, the Azerbaijani Army's positions in the direction of Zivel, Zeylik and Istisu settlements of the Kelbajar region and Aghdam and Garalar of the Tovuz region were intensely fired with small arms of various caliber," the statement reads.


According to the defense ministry, Azerbaijani army units deployed in the abovementioned directions "took adequate response measures."


The defense ministry of Azerbaijan stated that "all the responsibility for the purposeful aggravation of the situation lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia."
