Bangladesh's foreign policy is guided solely by its own interests and is characterized by a balanced approach. Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdul Kalam Abdul Momen made this statement after his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Dhaka.
"We follow our own interests and have been pursuing a fully independent foreign policy," stated the minister, as reported by the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news agency.
Momen also emphasized that Dhaka maintains a "balanced foreign policy with the aim of resolving all issues through dialogue and discussions."
"We do not want war. We do not want to witness any proxy conflicts anywhere. Our preference is for all issues to find resolution through dialogue and discussions," Momen stated.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also commended Bangladesh's independent policy, stating that Russia values countries like Bangladesh for adhering to their national interests despite Western pressures.
