Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have decided to speed up the delimitation and demarcation of the common section of the border. This was stated in a copy of the protocol signed by the heads of the State Committees of National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiyev and Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov, which was provided to TASS on Monday.

"In order to prevent provocative actions, suppress the emergence of conflicts, as well as to ensure peace and stability in the border areas, the parties agreed to accelerate the work on the completion of the project description of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in the remaining sections," the protocol reads.

The parties also agreed not to set up border checkpoints near the section of the border where there were clashes between servicemen of the two states and not to allow "the development of disputed territories.
