Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, met with Musa Faki Mahamat, Chairman of the African Union Commission (AU), in Ethiopia to discuss the cooperation plan between Russia and the AU for 2023-2026. The details of this meeting were disclosed in a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The discussions centered on the effective implementation of the action plan agreed upon at the second Russia-Africa summit held in St. Petersburg in July 2023. Both parties also emphasized the importance of successfully organizing the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, scheduled to take place in Sochi in November.
During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on various international and regional issues of mutual interest. The primary focus was on maintaining peace and security across the African continent. This includes addressing the challenges in the Sahara-Sahel zone, the Great Lakes Region, and Sudan.
