Bogdanov and Iranian Ambassador Discuss Situation in Syria and Palestinian Territories

Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Iran's Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, to discuss the evolving situation in Syria and the Palestinian territories.

 

"During the conversation, there was a thorough exchange of views on current Middle Eastern issues, with a focus on developments in Syria and the Palestinian territories," the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release.

 

On Tuesday, a Russian interagency delegation visited Damascus and held talks with the head of the new Syrian administration. Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov reported that the meeting lasted approximately three hours and was constructive. He emphasized that Moscow continues to support Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty. During the meeting in Damascus, the Russian delegation highlighted the need to address Syria's challenges through inclusive dialogue involving all political forces and ethno-confessional groups.

 

Bogdanov noted that the sides also discussed maintaining Russian military bases in Syria. According to him, the participants agreed to continue consultations, and at this point, there are no changes to Russia's presence in Syria.
