Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Jordanian Ambassador to Moscow Khaled Shawabke discussed the results of the meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a group of foreign ministers of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
"During the exchange of views on topical aspects of the Middle East agenda, the focus was on the unprecedented aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, including taking into account the results of the meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov with a delegation of foreign ministers of a number of Arab League and OIC countries, which included Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Affairs Ayman Hussein Abdullah al-Safadi, held in Moscow on November 21," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
As noted in the ministry, the parties also touched upon topical issues of further strengthening of traditionally friendly Russian-Jordanian relations, emphasizing the need to continue regular political dialogue.
Earlier at the designated meeting of Lavrov on October 21, Russia and the countries of the Arab-Muslim community confirmed the commonality of approaches to overcoming the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They emphasized the irresistibility of a comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian problem on the basis of the well-known UN decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
