Bogdanov comments on reports about three billion debt of Syria to Russia

10 September 2019

Reports that Syria allegedly has a debt to Russia for three billion dollars are nothing more than speculation. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov.

"It doesn't make any sense, it is nonsense", he noted, in particular, answering the corresponding question of journalists.

At the same time, the diplomat acknowledged that Damascus's debt to Russia may exist, but the announced amounts do not correspond to reality.

Earlier, the British edition of Time reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly requires from Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad 3 billion dollars repayment of a debt.
