17 June 2020

Russian Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow Abdelhafiz Nofal the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, as well as the development of Russian-Palestinian ties and cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Bogdanov received Nofal on June 17 at the latter's request.

"During the conversation, the parties had an in-depth exchange of views on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, including efforts to achieve intra-Palestinian reconciliation. It was noted that it is necessary to preserve the well-known international legal framework of the Middle East settlement, including the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly and the Arab Peace Initiative," the ministry said.

Topical aspects of further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, including cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus infection, were also touched upon.
