Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov had a telephone conversation with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya Ghassan Salame upon the initiative of the UN side.
During the conversation, the diplomat informed about the second round of inter-Libyan contacts held in Geneva within the framework of the Joint Military Committee in the 5+5 format, during which the sides continued to discuss the modalities of consolidating the truce announced on January 12 and the prospects for its transformation into a sustainable and long-term ceasefire.
The importance of the Russian role, which maintains active contact with all the Libyan parties for a lasting solution to the political and military crisis in Libya, was stressed.
The Russian side confirmed the importance of the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Libya.
