Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov held telephone talks with the Palestinian Ambassador in Moscow, Abdelhafiz Nofal. The diplomats discussed the situation in the Middle East, as well as the development of Russian-Palestinian relations and cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus.
"During the conversation, there was an in-depth exchange of views on the issues of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, with an emphasis on the need to preserve the well-known international legal framework of the Middle East settlement, including the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly and the Arab peace initiative," the Russian foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The sides also touched upon topical aspects of the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, including cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus infection.
