Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, discussed the tense situation in Jerusalem with Talal Naji, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC), by telephone on Sunday, the Russian MFA reported on Monday.
"The conversation discussed the latest developments in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with a focus on the dangerous escalation of tensions in Jerusalem. The problem of restoring Palestinian national unity was also touched upon. In this regard, the diplomatic mission noted the importance of maintaining regular contacts between the Russian side and a wide range of Palestinian socio-political forces," the diplomatic mission noted.
The telephone conversation was held on the initiative of the Palestinian side.
