Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the unprecedented aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip with Chairman of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces Falih Al-Fayyadh, as reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"During the comprehensive discussion of current Middle East affairs, particular emphasis was placed on the conditions in and around Iraq, the escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict, especially in the Gaza Strip, and the dire humanitarian circumstances," stated the diplomatic ministry in a released statement.
During the discussion of the bilateral agenda, "the Russian side reaffirmed its commitment to the continued active development of traditionally friendly Russian-Iraqi multifaceted ties", according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
On November 12, over 500 people were evacuated by special flights from the Gaza Strip to the Russian Federation, and more than 1,000 people were enrolled in the evacuation lists. The Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the number of Russians wanting to evacuate from the Gaza Strip is continually increasing, and the ministry is committed to bringing each of them home.
