Bogdanov Discusses Middle East Situation with Iranian Ambassador

Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, met with Kazem Jalali, the Iranian Ambassador to Moscow, to discuss the evolving military and political situation in the Middle East. According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the discussions emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area.

 

"During the conversation, the main focus was on the developments in the military-political situation in the Middle East, particularly in light of the ongoing escalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. The necessity of an immediate ceasefire and providing emergency humanitarian aid to the population of the Gaza Strip were highlighted," the ministry's statement said.

 

The statement also noted that the discussions included the situation in and around Syria, including issues related to cooperation in the Astana format.

 

Earlier, in a conversation with journalists, Bogdanov mentioned that a new meeting on Syria in the Astana format is expected to take place by the end of 2024.
