Mikhail Bogdanov, the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, met with Bashar Jaafari, the Syrian Ambassador to Moscow, to discuss the settlement of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on the development of the situation in and around Syria, with a focus on the tasks of promoting a comprehensive settlement in the Syrian Arab Republic," stated the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The ministry noted that the parties reviewed current issues of multifaceted Russian-Syrian cooperation, including "the preparation of joint events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in July."
The meeting took place at the request of the Syrian ambassador.
