Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has met with the Foreign Minister of the Government of National Accord (PNS) Libya Mohamed Taha Siala.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the conversation, Siala has shared his assessments and considerations in connection with the development of the military-political situation in Libya.
Russia, in turn, once again has confirmed the principled line in support of the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya, as well as political methods to overcome the Libyan crisis, with the assistance of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Libya, Ghassan Salame.
It is known that after the overthrow and murder of the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, dual power reigns in the country. The parliament elected by the people sits in the east, and in the west, in the capital Tripoli, the Government of National Accord headed by Fayez al-Sarraj rules with the support of the UN and the European Union.
