Bombing of a mosque in northern Afghanistan kills 30 people

At least 30 people died Thursday in an explosion at a mosque in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif (the administrative center of the northern Afghan province of Balkh). This was reported by the Khaama Press agency, citing local medical authorities.


According to doctors, 80 wounded have also been admitted to hospitals.


Earlier with reference to medical workers Afghan channel TOLO News reported the death of five people. According to initial reports by Aamaj News agency, the incident took place near a mosque, but later there were reports that the explosion took place inside the building itself as worshippers gathered to perform afternoon prayers.
