A branch of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University was opened in the city of Jizzakh in Uzbekistan, and the opening ceremony was attended by Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who is currently on a working visit to the republic. This was reported by Minnikhanov's press service.
"Today a branch of Kazan (Volga Region) University was opened in Jizzakh, it is the first foreign branch of KFU, the opening ceremony was attended by Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov," the report said. It was also reported that the university will offer study programmes in software engineering, geology, economics, engineering and other spheres and will admit up to 300 students. The academic process starts on October 31.
The project has been implemented with the support of the government of Uzbekistan. The university received premises in Jizzakh, renovation works were done and the issue of equipment purchase was worked out. Proceeding from needs of the republic a list of majors was formed.
It is expected that during his working visit, Minnikhanov will hold talks with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, heads of ministries and departments of the republic.
