BRICS Calls for a Nuclear-Free Zone in the Middle East

23 October

The BRICS countries have advocated for strengthening the non-proliferation regime and creating a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East. This is outlined in the Kazan Declaration, published on the Kremlin's website following the BRICS summit.

“We call for reinforcing non-proliferation and disarmament efforts, recognizing their importance in maintaining global stability, international peace, and security. We stress the crucial need to accelerate the implementation of resolutions aimed at establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, as well as other weapons of mass destruction, including the conference convened in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 73/546. We urge all invited parties to participate in this conference constructively and in good faith,” the declaration states.
