On September 26, energy ministers will meet on the sidelines of the International Forum “Russian Energy Week” (REW) to discuss cooperation in the energy sector, according to the Roscongress Foundation.

“At the meeting, the heads of sectoral ministries will present the main directions of BRICS countries' energy policies, review the results of the energy dialogue under Russia’s chairmanship, and define future vectors for the development of BRICS cooperation in the energy field,” the statement said.

Special attention will be given to the results of the BRICS Energy Research Platform, including the presentation of a study on a just energy transition. A communiqué is expected to be adopted following the meeting.

“We plan to discuss priority areas of cooperation with our partners, including technological cooperation, promotion of trade, investment, and research activities, as well as joint workforce training,” noted Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov.

Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the organizing committee for Russia's BRICS chairmanship in 2024, remarked that international cooperation on energy projects is becoming increasingly important amid global shifts in the energy landscape.

“In a multipolar world, we need new approaches to solving global issues, and BRICS cooperation is a key factor for success in this area. As part of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship in the energy sector and the discussions during REW’s business program, efforts are underway to strengthen international ties and enhance the role of BRICS countries in the global energy industry,” he said.
