Cabinet of Ministers allocates additional funds to the Defense Ministry for peacekeeping mission in Karabakh

The Russian government has allocated additional funds from the budget for the Defense Ministry for the peacekeeping operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Tatyana Shevtsova said this in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda published on Friday.


"In accordance with the current legislation, the provision of the peacekeeping contingent is carried out at the expense of an additional allocation of budgetary funds. The Russian government has taken relevant decisions," Shevtsova said.


In particular, the money is intended for the arrangement of the Russian military contingent.


"Additional payments are also provided for personnel taking part in the peacekeeping operation in Nagorno-Karabakh. They will make up two salaries," she said.


Earlier, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov, said that the actions of Russian peacekeepers helped to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. The Lachin corridor and the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh are fully controlled by units of Russian peacekeepers.
