Cairo Hosts Four-Party Meeting on Gaza Conflict, Including Talks with Hamas Delegation

13 February

A high-level consultation meeting involving representatives from Egypt, the United States, Qatar, and Israel has commenced in Cairo, as per reports from Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya.

The meeting is said to explore potential agreements regarding the exchange of hostages held in Gaza for Palestinians held in Israeli facilities, along with discussions on the prospects of implementing a ceasefire in the region.

Simultaneously, Al-Mayadeen has highlighted that alongside the four-party meeting in Cairo, separate negotiations will take place between a Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya, the deputy leader of the movement in the Gaza Strip, and representatives of Egypt's intelligence service.

Previously, Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya had disclosed that Director of the US CIA William Burns and Head of the Israeli Mossad David Barnea would convene in Cairo with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al-Thani. These officials are expected to engage with Egyptian counterparts to deliberate on ways to secure a truce in the Gaza Strip.

The Financial Times, citing anonymous diplomatic sources, had earlier reported that Burns and Barnea would meet with senior Egyptian and Qatari officials to revive negotiations aimed at halting the conflict in the Middle East and liberating hostages.
