Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov may take part in a meeting of Russian, Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers on Syria in Antalya in March, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced in an interview with the TRT television channel on Thursday.

"The day before the [scheduled for March 11-13] diplomatic forum in Antalya, a meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey in the framework of the Astana format is very likely to take place. Russia has already confirmed its participation and we are awaiting Iran's reply," said Cavusoglu.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said in late January that the next international meeting on Syria in the Astana format was scheduled for this spring.

The previous international meeting on Syria in the Astana format was held on December 21-22, 2021 in Nur-Sultan.
