The current president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is winning the presidential election. This was announced by the deputy head of the CEC Konstantin Petrov.
According to the preliminary results of the voting, Tokayev received 70.76% of the vote.
His closest competitors, Dania Espayeva, member of the lower house of parliament, received 5.2% of the vote, and Amirzhan Kosanov, a journalist and politician, 16.2%.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, who headed the republic for almost 30 years, resigned on March 20.
