The Russian, Chinese, and Iranian naval exercises "Maritime Security Belt 2023" in the Gulf of Oman have contributed to strengthening security in the region, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Tan Kefei said Thursday.
"These exercises enhanced the ability of the navies of China, Iran, and Russia to jointly carry out various military tasks at sea, further strengthened traditional friendship and cooperation, and contributed to protecting maritime security as well as ensuring peace and stability in the region," he said in a WeChat statement from the defense ministry.
As Tan Kefei pointed out, the exercise took place from March 15 to 19. A total of 12 ships took part in practicing aerial search operations, rescue at sea, performing naval parade formation, as well as other tasks in the exercise.
