Central Asian states and China have agreed to coordinate efforts to resolve the situation in Afghanistan, Wang Yi, Foreign Minister and member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, said on Wednesday following a meeting of foreign ministers in the Kazakh capital city in the "Central Asia - China" format.
"We will coordinate positions on the situation in Afghanistan in a timely manner and promote peaceful reconstruction in that country," he said.
According to him, the countries of the region and China will comprehensively address security issues. In addition, the parties agreed to continue jointly fighting the pandemic, to intensify efforts in the development of vaccines and medicines.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi reminded that the initiative to create the format "Central Asia - China" was proposed by the Chinese side in 2020 in order to enhance efforts to strengthen multi-dimensional relations between the states of the region with China, as well as to develop inter-regional cooperation. "Today's meeting was very fruitful and rich. We are satisfied with the exchange of views that took place in the spirit of traditional friendship, openness and pragmatism. The participants of the meeting came to a consensus that the format "Central Asia - China", from year to year, increasing the potential and efficiency, achieves the set goals", he noted.
