Observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) who monitored the Russian presidential election did not detect any violations that could have impacted the outcome of the vote, Ilhom Nematov, the head of the observer mission at the elections, told reporters.
"CIS observers did not register any violations that might have impacted the voting or the election results," stated Nematov, presenting the final report.
He further noted that, according to their findings, the voting process and ballot counting proceeded calmly, orderly, and in complete accordance with Russian legal requirements.
Nematov affirmed that the electoral laws of the Russian Federation adhere to international standards. "Our analysis of Russian electoral legislation indicated its alignment with universally recognized norms of international law governing elections, enabling the free and transparent expression of voters' will," - he informed reporters. - "The Russian presidential election was conducted in full conformity with the Russian Constitution and existing electoral laws, openly and transparently. It was fair and competitive."
Nematov commended the Russian Central election commission for effectively managing the electoral process. "I extend my congratulations to the Russian Central election commission for the successful administration of the electoral campaign, which holds significant importance for the Russian Federation," he remarked.
Innovations in the election
Nematov also highlighted the positive reception of innovations introduced in the Russian presidential election by observers. "I wish to underscore that a notable aspect of the recent elections was the implementation of innovations such as three-day voting and remote electronic voting. These innovations were widely welcomed by voters. In interviews, many voters expressed appreciation for the convenience afforded by these changes," he emphasized.
Mission's activities in the elections
The CIS observer mission for the Russian presidential election monitored approximately 2,000 polling stations across 28 regions of the country, as stated by Nematov.
"Throughout the three-day voting period on March 15, 16, and 17, our mission oversaw voting and ballot counting in 28 regions. Comparatively, in 2021, we only covered 14 regions; this time, twice as many regions were included. Our observers visited around 2,000 polling stations," he reported, concluding the statement on the election results.
