08 June 2023

Interaction and cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is getting stronger and more fruitful, and both associations are trying to coordinate their actions. CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev told reporters following the meeting of the CIS heads of government.

"I would like to note that the close interaction of the CIS and the EEU structures is the specificity of today's meeting. You saw that the chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Mikhail Myasnikovich, was sitting at the table as a guest. <...> We try to closely coordinate our activities, to coordinate the specific steps, activities and documents that we adopt in both structures. And this cooperation is becoming stronger and, most importantly, more fruitful. It's very useful for our countries," he said.

June 8, a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Governments was held in Sochi. A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is held here on Thursday, as well as the II Youth Forum of the CIS and the EEU, and the Eurasian Congress.
