CIS Secretary-General stresses Eurasian solidarity neutralizes aggressive Western policies

03 August 2023

According to CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev, the solidarity among Eurasian countries, which includes the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, serves as a significant counterbalance to the aggressive policies pursued by the collective West. This solidarity effectively addresses the challenges and pressures faced by the Commonwealth countries, as well as countries in Africa and Asia.

Lebedev highlighted the positive cooperation between the CIS and the SCO, stating that they have developed strong contacts. As the secretary-general of the CIS, he regularly meets with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, and they are scheduled to hold their next meeting in Beijing on September 27. Additionally, Zhang Ming has been invited to the upcoming CIS Council of Heads of State meeting, which will take place in Bishkek on October 13.
