CIS Secretary-General: The West Has Isolated Itself from the Commonwealth

28 March

By imposing sanctions and cutting ties, the West has effectively isolated itself from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which is now focusing on strengthening the Greater Eurasian Partnership (GEP), according to CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev.

“CIS countries are now a key part of the Greater Eurasian Partnership. It’s important to talk about this initiative because, as you can see, the West has chosen to separate itself from us—through sanctions, restrictions, and severing long-standing connections. That’s why we are naturally shifting our focus to GEP—it’s the logical path forward,” Lebedev stated at the CIS International Economic Forum.

The forum, held in Moscow on March 28, centers around the theme “New Impulses for the Development of Greater Eurasian Partnership: Scientific, Technological, and Innovation Progress.”

The Greater Eurasian Partnership, first proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2015, aims to foster a more balanced, multipolar world by promoting equal and mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Putin has described it as a potential game-changer that could redefine global economic and political dynamics.
