Committee to Protect Journalists Reports Surge in Attacks on Palestinian Media Personnel

28 November 2023

The international non-governmental organization Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has reported an increase in attacks against Palestinian journalists.

CPJ documented incidents of violence against Palestinian reporters covering the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, particularly near Ofer prison.

The organization noted that at least 57 journalists, including 50 Palestinians, four Israelis, and three Lebanese, have been targeted in the recent escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

This period is described as the deadliest for journalists since CPJ began gathering information in 1992, with 11 journalists injured and three reported missing. The Society of Palestinian Journalists reported that 63 media workers have been killed in Gaza since the start of the conflict with Israel.
