Companies from Russia to take part in Gitex Africa IT exhibition in Morocco

More than 900 companies from around the world, including the Russian Federation, will take part in the international exhibition Gitex Africa, dedicated to digital technology and innovation to be held in the Moroccan city of Marrakech from May 31 to June 2. This was announced by the organizers of the event during a press conference held Thursday in Salé (a suburb of Rabat).


"More than 900 companies are expected to attend Gitex Africa, which will be held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, with delegations coming from more than 100 countries," the organizing committee said, adding that the exhibition will feature "intensive and result-oriented interaction between the public and private sectors on various issues of the digital economy."


"Morocco is honored to host the first Gitex Africa. This is a real opportunity to deepen the efforts made and the work done in recent years in the field of digital transition and technological innovation," stressed for her part Moroccan Delegate-Minister to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Ghita Mezzour, who took part in the press conference.


"The potential of technology on the African continent is limitless, and the time has come to act. At a time when Africa is creating an environment conducive to technological innovation, Gitex Africa in Marrakech will provide an opportunity to bring together technology moguls and attract investment," said Mohamed Drissi Meliani, CEO of the Moroccan Digital Development Agency, in turn.


About 40 companies will represent Russia at Gitex Africa, mainly from Moscow and St. Petersburg. Earlier the trade mission of Russia in Morocco told TASS correspondent that the international exhibition Gitex Africa in Marrakech will be one of the platforms for Russian economic operators to establish new ties in African markets in the run-up to the second Russia-Africa summit scheduled for July 2023 in St. Petersburg.


Gitex Africa will address digital technology and innovation, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, telecommunications and cybersecurity. Ministers and heads of agencies of several African countries responsible for digital development, heads of African banks, top managers of major international companies such as Mastercard, Microsoft and others are expected to attend.
