Conference on food security in Samarkand scheduled for September 7-8

The upcoming annual international conference on food security is scheduled to take place in Samarkand from September 7 to 8, the Dunyo news agency, which operates under the auspices of the Uzbekistan foreign ministry.

 

"The international conference is strategically aligned with World Food Day, an annual celebration that falls on October 16. This date marks the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)," the report read.

 

The forum has extended invitations to representatives from various scientific and educational institutions across the globe. Their primary focus will be engaging in discussions concerning both national and international food safety standards. Additionally, they will delve into pertinent topics such as nutrition, food processing, quality control, and the critical realm of environmental and food safety.

 

Concurrently, an exhibition showcasing Uzbekistan's food and agricultural products is slated to coincide with the conference in Samarkand.

 

It's worth noting that Samarkand hosted the 4th Conference on "Food Security: Global and National Challenges" on October 14-15, 2022. This event was organized by Sharaf Rashidov Samarkand State University in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
