The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) calls on the parties to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to refrain from the use of force and to use only diplomatic methods to resolve disagreements. This was said in a statement by CSTO Secretary-General Stanislav Zas, published on the organization's website on Thursday.
"The CSTO Secretariat is concerned about the information about the armed clashes that took place in Nagorno-Karabakh and resulted in human casualties. I express my deep condolences to the families and friends of the killed servicemen," the statement reads.
"We call on the parties to the conflict to refrain from the use of force and to use only diplomatic methods to overcome the existing differences," he pointed out.
The Russian defense ministry said the situation in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh is deteriorating.
