CSTO launches exercises in Tajikistan to eliminate illegal armed groups

Maneuvers to eliminate illegal armed groups started on Thursday in Tajikistan in the framework of exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) "Rubezh-2022". This was reported to journalists in the joint press center of the CSTO. 


"Today in the framework of a joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region (CRDF Central Asia) "Rubezh-2022" in Tajikistan at Kharb-Maidon training ground CRDF Central Asia began to carry out the tasks of the next stage: management of units in the blocking and eliminating illegal armed groups and special actions to restore the state border", said in the message. 


According to the joint press center, military contingents of member countries of the Central Asian region, task forces of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat take part in the practical actions at the Kharb-Maidon training range. The core of the Russian contingent consists of servicemen of the Central Military District from the 201st Military Base. The total number of participants in the exercise is about 1,000 people and more than 300 units of military and special equipment, including aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. The subject of the exercise is the training and conduct of combat operations by the CSTO CRDF to destroy illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state.


"Rubezh-2022" takes place from 10 to 21 October, the active phase of the exercise started on 17 October.
