CSTO Secretary-General to discuss cooperation at UN Security Council meeting

The Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take part in a meeting of the UN Security Council on "Cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organizations in support of international peace and security: Cooperation between the UN and the CSTO" by videoconference, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaynetdinov told TASS on Tuesday.


"During the event, it is planned to discuss ways to develop cooperation between the two organizations, taking into account the significant role of the CSTO in ensuring security in the Eurasian space," he pointed out.


In particular, according to Zainetdinov, it is planned to focus on countering terrorist and drug threats, including those emanating from the territory of Afghanistan, as well as the prospects of CSTO involvement in UN peacekeeping activities.
