The military component of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) urgently needs strengthening in the current military and political situation. CSTO Secretary-General Stanislav Zas said this on Wednesday, speaking at a joint session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of CSTO Security Councils.
"Under the current conditions of the military-political situation, the strengthening of the military component of the CSTO is an urgent necessity," he stressed, speaking on Wednesday at a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the organization.
According to Zas, "a number of tactical and tactical-special exercises are planned for the coming period with contingents of troops of the CSTO collective forces, incorporating elements of peacekeeping, counter-terrorism and response to crisis and emergency situations into their design."
