CSTO stresses need for helping Tajikistan contain potential threats

Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas at the Thursday session of the Duma Committee on the CIS, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots stressed the need for assistance to Tajikistan in deterring potential threats, the CSTO secretariat told TASS on Thursday.


"The CSTO Secretary-General briefed the deputies on the situation in the Eastern European, Caucasus and Central Asian regions of the CSTO collective security and outlined the threats emanating from the territory of Afghanistan. Stanislav Zas emphasized the need to help Tajikistan contain potential threats," the report reads.


Separately, Zas informed the deputies about the results of the peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan. He noted that there were no losses in personnel, armament and military equipment according to its results.
