Days of Egyptian Culture have been opened in Moscow

The opening ceremony of Days of Egyptian Culture has been held in the capital’s library for foreign literature. The forum is organized with the assistance of the Embassy of the Arab Republic in Russia and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

 

The event was attended by Acting Director General of the library for foreign literature Vladimir Markov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation Ihab Nasr, Advisor on Educational and Cultural Affairs Muhammed Elgebali, Deputy Director of the Department for Africa of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Russia Oleg Ozerov and other guests of honor.

 

On behalf of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World”, the ceremony was attended by Envarbic Fazelyanov, the expert of the Group.

 

In his speech, Acting Director General of the library for foreign literature Vladimir Markov stated the importance of Days of Egyptian Culture in terms of relations between Moscow and Cairo.

 

“Diplomatic relations between Russia and the Arab Republic of Egypt were established 76 years ago. And all these years, cultural cooperation between our countries has been successfully developing”, Vladimir Markov noted.

 

Ambassador of Egypt to Russia Ihab Nasr highlighted that this forum was the result of fruitful joint work on the part of the two countries.

 

“I hope that Days of Egyptian Culture in the library for foreign literature will become the beginning of a large cycle of cultural events, which will strengthen relations between our countries”, the Head of the diplomatic mission of the Arab Republic.

 

Deputy Director of the Department for Africa of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Russia Oleg Ozerov pointed out that such events as the Day of Egyptian Culture were the result of the "renaissance" of relations between Russia and countries of the African continent and the Arab world.

 

“Half of the success of this forum belongs to our friends from Egypt, who worked hand-in-hand with us in order to make this event a new stage in the development of relations between Russia and the African continent”, Oleg Ozerov said.

 

Days of Egyptian Culture in Moscow library for foreign literature will take place up to December 16. In the framework of the forum there will be held lectures, round table discussions and master classes on the topics of cultural heritage and history of the Arab Republic.
