The military delegations of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations will meet in Istanbul on July 13 to discuss grain exports, Hulusi Akar, head of Turkey's ministry of defense, said on Tuesday.
"The military delegations of Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and UN representatives will meet tomorrow in Istanbul on the issue of exporting grain by sea from Ukrainian ports to international markets," the minister said in a statement.
Akar recalled the establishment in mid-June of a hotline between the military departments of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine to coordinate the export of Ukrainian grain, which is responsible for the generals of the armies of the three countries, the negotiations he held with Russian and Ukrainian Defense Ministers Sergei Shoygu and Alexei Reznikov within the process of creating the so-called grain corridor, and the meetings in Moscow of military delegations of Turkey and Russia and in Ankara of representatives of the defense ministry of Turkey and Ukraine.
According to Akar, the work on the creation of the grain corridor is carried out within the framework of the efforts made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to solve the food crisis and on the basis of his directives. "Negotiations are continuing and are positive," the head of Turkey's Defense ministry said.
On July 11, the presidents of Russia and Turkey discussed in a telephone conversation the creation of security corridors for grain supplies to world markets via the Black Sea.
