Delegations of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan completed a 17-kilometer borderline description

Topographic groups of the government delegations of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan at a meeting in Batken drafted a description of the line on one of the sections of the common border. This was reported on Wednesday by the press service of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Tajikistan.


"During the meeting, the parties drafted a description of the line of the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border with a total length of 17.66 km and agreed on a schedule of meetings for 2023 in order to continue the work," the statement said.


The next meeting of the topographic groups will be held in Tajikistan, the press service noted.


On November 26 President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said that Bishkek is determined to solve border problems with neighboring Tajikistan "in the shortest time possible".


The length of Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border is more than 980 km and after the collapse of the Soviet Union there are dozens of disputed sections on it. More than 663 km of the border have been agreed upon in the process of delimitation and demarcation.
