Deputy Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia Discuss Cooperation and Regional Situation

25 August 2023

During his visit to Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov held discussions with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Galuzin. The meeting, as reported by the Azerbaijani foreign ministry's press service, focused on bilateral cooperation between the two nations as well as the prevailing regional dynamics.

,"The meeting delved into pertinent matters pertaining to the bilateral cooperation agenda and the ongoing regional situation," the press release stated.

Both officials acknowledged the robust nature of their political discourse and collaborative endeavors spanning diverse domains, including economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres. They highlighted the significance of harnessing the existing potential to foster even stronger ties between their countries.

Moreover, Mammadov apprised his Russian counterpart about the post-conflict landscape in the region, along with the normalization process between Baku and Yerevan. He underscored their efforts in advancing peace initiatives, while expressing concern over military and political provocations orchestrated by the Armenian side. These actions, which contravene international law and the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, undermine the pursuit of peaceful resolutions, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry conveyed.
