17 March 2023

Early voting in the elections of deputies to the Majlis (parliament) has begun in Turkmenistan. The official newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan reported this on Friday.

According to the newspaper, first of all, the procedure is intended for citizens going on long business trips or vacations, as well as for those who, for whatever reason, will not be able to vote at their polling stations on March 26.

According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan, all stages of the election campaign were organized in a timely manner, in accordance with the current national legislation and generally accepted international norms. All 2,644 polling stations in the country are fully ready to work, including 42 polling stations abroad at diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan waiting for voters.

Turkmenistan's parliamentary elections are scheduled for March 26. On this day, members of the people's councils of regions, districts, cities, and local governments will be elected.
