Egypt, Russia and Thailand became the most popular destinations for New Year holidays among Russians. This is stated in the results of a study of the Travelata tour booking service and the Rosgosstrakh insurance company, which are available to TASS.
"Egypt (29%), Russian regions (19%), Thailand (15%), Turkey and the UAE (14% each) were among the most popular New Year's destinations for Russians," the experts said.
According to the study, the average cost of New Year in Egypt was 141 thousand rubles (last year - 111 thousand rubles), and the cost of a tour to Thailand was the highest - 231 thousand rubles. Among Russian destinations for New Year holidays the highest demand was for St. Petersburg (11%) and several Sochi districts: Imeretinsky (23%), Adler (11%), Sochi-Center (10%) and Krasnaya Polyana (9%). The average bill for these tours ranged from 44 to 59 thousand rubles. The highest average cost - 120 thousand rubles. - noted on the tour to Krasnaya Polyana.
Most often Russian tourists booked five- and four-star hotels - 30% and 32% respectively. A year earlier there were more vacationers in hotels of such categories (41% and 36%). Russians mostly traveled in couples (59%), alone (18%), and with children (14%). The average duration of a New Year's tour was eight nights, and the depth of bookings was 32 days, experts said.
During New Year holidays Russians most often sought medical help under insurance in connection with viral and cold-related diseases (about 30% of appeals), various injuries (22%) and gastrointestinal diseases (about 10%), noted in the study.
